Action-RPG Roguelike (HD2D)

The game is best categorized as a hybrid Action-RPG with a Roguelike core. It combines the structured exploration and storytelling of a classic JRPG with the randomized, high-stakes combat of modern dungeon crawlers.

The “Mind Dives” provide the roguelite heart of the game. Features include procedural level generation, temporary power-ups (boons), and permanent meta-progression via the Overworld.

While exploration is grid-based or free-roaming, the Combat—both in Mind Dungeons and Overworld encounters—is defined by dodging complex projectile patterns and high-intensity real-time reaction.

The Main HUB (The City) introduces elements of Life Simulation and Management. Players engage in quest-giving (Job Board), NPC relationship building, and resource management (Farming).

Due to the “Mind Dive” mechanic, the game fits into the narrative sub-genre of Psychological Fiction, where levels and enemies are manifestations of internal human emotions rather than physical monsters.

Unlike traditional Roguelikes (which are often just a series of menus or a single hub), our genre identity is defined by the Classic JRPG Overworld. The transition from a “Dragon Quest-style” map into a “Hades-style” mind-dive creates a unique rhythmic loop of Exploration -> Intensity -> Management.
